A13 Mk I Covenanter Cruiser Tank "Athena"

The Covenanter tank was a British cruiser tank (light tank) that was put into production in 1939. Due to the advent of war, these tanks where hastily ordered "off the drawing board". As a result of this the MK I (1940) to MK III (1941) variants of the tank were plagued with severe overheating problems, that made it unsuitable for the North African Campaign. Outside of a few test pilots and later Mk IV (1942) utility vehicles, Covenanters never left the British Isle. There are no records of these tanks being used in combat, they where used mostly as home guard defense, training vehicles and utilized heavily in propaganda material.

These tanks where considered obsolete by 1943, all Covenanters (with exception of bridge laying variants) where scrapped. As this tank did not perform well during the war, very little attempt was made to preserve an example. As a result, a single Covenanter gun–tank exists, with other carcasses being dug up across the UK.

This tank was based and inspired by The Tank Museum's Covenanter tank, although I choose to represent the tank in an earlier configuration as well as change up the markings and names. The Covie is my favorite WW2 tanks from it's sleek looks alone and I have been eager to model it for some time. I really enjoyed the texturing the tank and creating the decals and emblems. I also gave Marmoset toolbag a chance and I have to say I really impressed with the results.

I am mostly quite pleased with my final renders, although I think I will mostly be sticking to smaller scale projects for the time being, as working on viechles does take quite a while (Particularly niche ones).
