OTs-38 Stechkin silent revolver (ОЦ-38)

The OTs-38 is a likely candidate for the weirdest revolver in existence. From a glance, the weapon resembles a traditional double action revolver but possesses some very unorthodox features. The revolver is not designed to be a standard sidearm, it is suited for covert and clandestine operations. It was developed and has been in service with the Russian Federation since 2002.

This was the first 3D model I completed in Blender. I was inspired to make another firearm after meeting Wardog at my Graduation fair. While originally starting out life out as a Glock 42, I was not able to get the proportions and shape correct. I scrapped the project and choose to start work on another firearm. After seeing pictures of the OTs-38, I was compelled to recreate it in 3D on the basis of how strange it looked.

This project took longer than I would of have anticipated, as I was juggling what weapon to do, learning the quirks of a new software and also wrapping my head around a new pipeline. While I am mostly impressed with the end result, particularly in the texturing department - I could have done much better with the High Poly bakes. I had to make the difficult discussion to finish work on this project as I wanted to move onto other projects. To end on a positive, I know now how to use blender properly and I will continue to use it for the foreseeable future.
